Success Tip: Don’t Fight It!

Posted By: Shauna  //  Category: Law of Attraction

How many things do you regret in your life? What about things you wish you had done differently, or current circumstances that you would change if you could?

These things are called resistance, and as you resist what IS and what HAS BEEN, you hold back the good things you want to come into your life NOW.

We have all heard of resistance, but what we have found is that many people have a difficult time identifying resistance within themselves. They are looking for something obvious or something that jumps out at them, but in truth resistance is simpler, and more subtle, than that. It is subtle becasue it feels so natural to us that we do not even realize what it is. The questions above will give you a good starting point to discover a few of your own places of resistance…wherever you are hanging on to something, or wishing something was other than it actually is or was, you are carrying around resistance. It is heavy…let it go and you will literally lighten up.

Don’t fight it! The old saying ‘what you resist, persists’, has pertinence here, and can be interpreted to mean that just by giving it a name, a certain cicumstance continues to exist in your mind and in your life. For example, if you are trying to quit smoking and keep saying to yourself how difficult it is or even if you tell yourself you are now a non-smoker, notice that the very fact that smoking or smoker is part of your vocabulary keeps the concpet within your thoughts and your reality. If you focus instead on your desired end result, such as ‘I am a healthy, happy person who works out at least 4 days a week and I’m so grateful for my vibrant health and for every new day I get to enjoy’, you will begin and live each day with a very different set of feelings and thoughts.

Enjoy your week, and remember to focus on your desired end results, and stop fighting the things you do NOT WANT!

Wealth: Your Financial Education

Posted By: Shauna  //  Category: Wealth

What is your financial IQ? Were you taught the rules that the wealthy play by when you were young? Were you even taught the rules that ‘normal’ people should know so that they can take care of the money they earn, watch it create more money and sail slowly and steadily towards financial freedom?

My guess is NO - not just because you are reading this blog, but because MOST of us were not. I was not. I don’t blame my parents or my teachers for this, because they were not taught.

The buck stops here. I have spent the recent years of my adult life gaining a financial education, and the more I learn the more I see there is plenty to learn. But it’s fun, and exciting, and empowering, and all of the things I love. I also feel more and more in control of my money, my time and my investments…and more and more can I see how by being ignorant about how money really works we are dooming ourselves to poverty and fear our entire lives. Knowledge - and knowledge applied - really is power, in this case. I will not live in fear and poverty ever again, because I am gaining knowledge - more knowledge than many ‘finanical advisors’ who are taught to sell me a portfolio of diversified investments and who will make their fees whether I make any money or not.

My child will not live in fear or poverty. She has a teacher at school who is always telling her to sit down and be quiet and stop being original - entirely missing her creativity, her amazing intelligence and in the process stamping out her eagerness and enthusiasm. She’s nine. He tells her when she uses a pen instead of a pencil that when she grows up her boss will FIRE her for being unwilling to comply with simple instructions. Well, sir, I have NEWS for you: my kid will never work in some cubicle with an overbearing boss that threatens her all the time. She’s going to respect herself and her abilities far more than that, and moreover, she’s got a Mom who is learning money lessons VERY well, and will teach them to her…thus she will be making more money than her teacher by the time she is out of high school and considering University or college.

We are often telling you that you need to work on your thinking patterns, and change your thoughts and actions to change your life. This is very true, but it also has to be backed up with a decent financial education. For this reason we include the basics of finance in our courses, along with the other aspects of developing a true prosperity mindset, although these basics are just the beginning of what can be a lifelong learning journey.

In Donald Trump’s latest book, co-authored with Rich Dad, Poor Dad’s Robert Kiyosaki - Why We Want You To Be Rich - he has a good point about time and money:

“If you saw time as money, would you be more careful with it? For example, if wasting 15 minutes of your time meant you would lose $500, would you be more aware of how those 15 minutes were spent?” He goes on to say “All the money in the world cannot replace time, so proceed accordingly.”

Of course we have all thought about this abstractedly, but that question puts it in a way, for me, that sharply focuses my intentions and reminds me to spend my time efficiently…right now that means learning how to make, use and invest my money even more wisely so that I have even MORE TIME to spend doing what I choose.

For those of us - that is most - who did not receive this education at school or home, it DOESN’T MATTER. You are all grown up now, and time is tickin’. Take control, and educate yourself. It’s your money, and it’s your life.

Personal Development: No One is Coming to Rescue You From Your Life!

Posted By: ophelia  //  Category: Law of Attraction

Let me repeat that just so you hear me loud and clear - NO ONE IS COMING TO RESCUE YOU FROM YOUR LIFE, AND I MEAN NO ONE. NO ONE IS COMING TO SAVE YOU…

If you know how most poeple operate they are looking to be saved by someone - anyone - be it God, Law of Attraction, friends or family, but someone coming to their rescue to save them just in the nick of time. Most people finding Law of Attraction are basically looking to be saved, to be rescued because quite frankly their life sucks, most times they look up to God, now it’s Law of Attraction. Don’t get me wrong - Law of Attraction works - but I don’t believe most people use it correctly. Does gravity work better if you want to stand on the earth or if you want to jump off a building? Works well both ways but optimally would be much better if you wanted it to work for standing on the earth purposes. If you decide to jump off a building, you can scream ‘Gravity help me!’ but chances are it will just help you fall there faster.

If you could hear the prayers of most people it would sound something like ‘Dear God help me - Dear God I’m in this situation and I need your help, please help me’. I hear the worlds help me all the time but most times it’s coming from my 2 year old as he reaches out his hand and says Mommy help me! help me! I reach my hand out to him and I help him because I love him and because I also realize that he’s not able to do everything yet by himself, but a 2 year old is a far cry from a grown man or woman reaching out to their parents, friends, God or whoever screaming the words help me, help me!…

Now there are situations where you need help, but at what point do you realize it’s a cycle? At what point when you ask for the help to buy something do you realize next time I’ve got to stand on my own two feet? At what point after asking to be bailed out of a situation do you realize that one day there will be no one to rescue you from your life? Most people make bad decisions and NEVER NEVER EVER fix them because this time or next time someone is coming to save them from themselves. They feel there is no need to take any responsiblity for their actions or their life because someone is there to reach out and help them, to save them.. from the bad choices they have made.

Why is no one coming to save you from your life?

For anyone to ask that question implies the fact that they need to be saved. Implies the fact that they want to be rescued. Only victims need to be rescued or saved but it seems the world is filled with so many victims.

So if you are still waiting for God to set things right, if you are still hoping that the Universe is going to send you the mortgage payment before the 1st, if you are still waiting for events outside yourself to RESCUE you from the life and the events that you’ve created, then I’ve got news for you because no one is coming. There is a phrase in christianity that says He may not get there when you want to but he’ll be there right on time. That phrase alone taught to us growing up is one of the many reasons we feel the need to sit back and wait for someone, anyone to save us, to save our lives from the drastic state that it’s in instead of making plans to save ourselves to fix our lives to fix our problems.

Oh god save my marriage! Well why don’t you start saving your own marriage? Oh god help me buy a house - well why don’t you start putting things into place to buy one? You start saving pennies or dollars it goes along way, you start fixing your credit it goes a long way. Oh god help me make more money online - you start going to forums and reading and asking questions and doing research it goes a long way. The problem is most people don’t ask for help till they are already deep in a rut then they put up their hands and say HELP ME HELP ME.

There was an old coworker of mine who would drink and get drunk, and would have many horrible accidents, would be in the hospitial, her child got taken away from her, she never felt the need to start being her own savior because someone was always coming to rescue her - her dad, her mom, someone was always coming to save her from herself. Whatever decisions she made someone always came to save her from her bad decisions. One day I asked what will happen when people stop coming to save you? She said that will never happen someone will always come to save me.

Your situation may not be as drastic as this one but is there any part of your life in which you aren’t being fully responsible, that you need somoene to rescue you from the mistakes you’ve made, that you’ve gotten so comfortable being saved that you’ve stopped saving yourself, that you’ve stopped taking responsiblity for in that aspect of your life?

Start helping yourself. Start being your own savior. Start being your own knight in shining armour. Stop being a victim.

Personal Development: What Makes the ‘Difference’?

Posted By: Shauna  //  Category: Law of Attraction, Personal Development

If everyone did the same things in the same way, then we’d all get the same results…since we all want different things, it would stand to reason that we should DO different things in order to achieve our desired ends.

However, as usual, life is not that simple! For the most part, even though people want different specific things, the few major goals are pretty similar when it comes to humans - eg. to be loved and feel love, to create better and more rewarding lives, to feel satisfied and proud, to enjoy a sense of purpose, etc.. The DIFFERENCE in those who accomplish these things and those who don’t is not the desire, but the actions and thoughts.

I’ve always thought I was a little ‘different’ than the people around me, and only in the last few years have I come to see that this is a GOOD thing! In response to Aaron’s blog Carnival at Today is That Day, here are five ways in which I do things differently than the ‘average bear’:

  1. I don’t like feeling ‘comfortable’. It makes me UNCOMFORTABLE…I feel very wary when I notice it…it feels like an enemy, and it is! This doesn’t mean I like physical discomfort; it means I am keenly aware that for me, comfort = settling for mediocrity. I LOVE feeling grateful, happy, proud, excited, etc., but NOT comfort. Comfort = an immediate need to look for bigger goals.
  2. I challenge myself to think in bigger and bigger terms. When it comes to money, for example, if I can easily get my head around the concept of earning $10K per month, I will want to make the numbers higher. I want my mind’s vibration about money to increase and identify with ever-higher numbers. If I think $10 million is a lot of money, how will I ever reach my goal of $500 million?…I am always stretching my mind to completely feel great and ‘normal’ about larger amounts.
  3. I hate ‘normal’. I don’t like the thought of being normal, or just like everyone else. I’ve seen normal, and it’s not where I want to be! I want my life to be extraordinary, unique, special, full of passion and lived to the utmost, and that is definitely not normal (unfortunately)!
  4. I can’t stay still. I love to travel and experience ‘newness’…I will never go to the same place twice because there are so many wonderful and exciting places to see and things to do in this world. That is not to say I do not value or practice consistency in my actions, because I do - but when it comes to experiences, I will never be one to go to the same cottage or resort year after year, for example, or work at some office for 20 or 30 years…life is way too short!
  5. I do not keep promises just because I made them…in fact, I do not make very many promises for this reason. As a constantly changing and growing person, I cannot and will not commit to you that I will do or want x,y, or z in 10 years’ time - how could I possibly know that? My life is ever-changing and I LOVE it that way. Staying in a relationship or a job or anything that no longer fits benefits no one. I am free, and I like it that way. I am surrounded by amazing people who grow and change with me, but never would I expect them to stay in my life because of obligation…only because of fun, mutual goals and shared desire to grow and learn together.

Well, that wraps it up. I feel a little strange, like I’ve bared my soul, but I’m sure you won’t notice. Have a great day!

When the Going Gets Tough…

…the tough get going!

Don’t you just LOOOVE phrases like that? I’ll bet if you are like the majority of people, you DON’T. In fact, pithy little success sayings like that may downright annoy you. They make you feel worse about yourself, not better. Are there really people who love these sayings, and who actually feel inspired by them?…YES!

CEO Compensation: Crime or Reward?…

Posted By: Shauna  //  Category: Law of Attraction

Hmmm….today I am reading with confusion an article at msn online about CEO pay and ‘what the little guy can do to correct it’. Huh??? (as Ophelia would say!)

As I read the article, it was not the CEO perks that surprised, annoyed or shocked me; it was the vehemence and bitterness with which the article was written. I was just shaking my head, thinking this is just more of the indoctrination of lack, poverty and ‘heroic little guy’ garbage that we get fed every day in every way.

The article lists the top 5 CEO pay packages, including stock options taken, and goes on to tell us how we can FIGHT such inequities. I quote: “What’s worse? The CEOs don’t seem to see anything wrong with that type of compensation.”  It goes on to tell us how we can take steps to help reform such a system. To read the article click here.

I read those pay packages and I thought ‘woohooooo! If I did the same things those guys did I could reach my $500 million goal in just TWO YEARS!!’ This shines for me like a beacon of what is possible…of course there are myriad ways to reach my goal and being the CEO of Yahoo isn’t one that I will choose, but it’s there, and it’s possible. I am fascinated that I do not find these pay packages maddening, as so many people seem to. I also know that I may receive some flack for writing about NOT being mad, because I used to think this way. Now all I see is the ‘little guy’ whining instead of pulling up his own damn socks and learning how to make some more money himself.

STOP LOOKING AROUND AND FINDING OTHERS TO BLAME AND COMPLAINING ABOUT HOW UNFAIR THINGS ARE. Each of us is responsible for our own lives - our own health, our own finances, and our own financial compensation. Don’t like it? FIX IT. Improve your skills, your knowledge and your options, and stop complaining about what everyone else is getting. There is more than enough of everything for everyone. Sheesh.

Why Do People Flock to the Negative?

Posted By: ophelia  //  Category: Law of Attraction

It amazes me that if I write a post about empowerment then there is no reaction, but if I get mad and write a post cursing at someone then all of a sudden people come out of the woodwork. While I appreciate everyone who loved my credit post, I must admit that I wrote it in the heat of anger, tears  - and while those seem to be my strongest emotions, maybe that emotion should have been turned inside of me to figure out why the label of thief bothered me so much.

There is nothing external. There never is. Mrs. Moorhead only touched a nerve that was already there; something inside of me felt hurt by this description, felt she was talking about me or to me which really isn’t true - she was talking about herself and to herself. Isn’t that what blogging is about, what diaries or weblogs are about? Internal reflections on what is going on in our respective worlds, and we use it to speak to others, hopefully inspire or teach them lessons.

Why does it seem that the latest negative or bad blood is immediately rushed and fed upon yet the inspiration and successes are quickly dismissed, much like how this post will be quickly dismissed?…

Is there a reason why we crave the drama and the negative? Do people really flock to the negative?

What is the World’s Problem with Materialism? Are We Ashamed of Success?

Posted By: ophelia  //  Category: Law of Attraction

It seems everywhere you look, everyone is telling you to shun materalism for some inner peace. While the search for inner peace is pretty great, all the inner peace in the world doesn’t help you when you are standing on the corner in the winter with your kids waiting for the bus…I mean what beats heated seats? I mean seriously what beats heated seats - heat in your car when your hands are freezing, not wanting to stand in the heat or in the cold waiting because you’ve chosen some inner peace over materialism? And then they have a good way to describe it too - called ’Why are you so materialistic?’ HUH!? Then they say ‘Oh it’s not that you can’t want things but excess is wrong…and having nothing isn’t wrong???? Being Read more…

Law of Attraction: Why Do We Need Problems?

Posted By: Shauna  //  Category: Law of Attraction

Imagine your ideal life…perfect in every way. I’ll bet this ideal of yours is off somwhere in a dim and fuzzy future, even if the goals you have are clearly defined. That future looks rosy, and you’re really going for it…but it’s still out there in ’someday’ land…

Now imagine you are Read more…
