Personal Development: The Benefits of Committment
Author: Shauna | Category: Law of AttractionWow! Recently, after being inspired by the habits of a personal development associate, Mr. Gleb Reys of Personal Development.ie, I made a decision to wake up every morning at 6am and get even more done with my days.
I normally wake up between 6:30 and 8:00am anyway, depending on the day, and this decision was made to further my self-discipline. What has happened in just the few days I have been doing it, though, is quite a nice surprise:
- I now naturally wake up at 6am on the dot - what an amazing alarm clock the body is! What a treat not to have to be jolted by an alarm.
- I have gone for a walk every morning while the sun is just coming up…and even taken a few chances to meditate on a park bench in pure silence as the day begins to warm.
- The few people I’ve seen I have felt a kindredship with that I don’t normally feel every day when I pass people on my walks (later in the day).
- I’ve seen birds and animals playing in yards and parks that I would normally never see…the early bird really does get the worm.
- I have experienced clarity about my day and life to come as I walk, and feel amazingly refreshed and clear upon arriving back home.
- I am able to accomplish much of my daily ‘absolutely must do’ list before 8am. Within these two early morning hours, I read the financial paper as well as a chapter of my chosen book - right now I am learning even more about investing - and in this way I ensure I continue my education consistently before I even begin my workday.
- Because I work from home there is a possibility of mixing up my hours…but in these last few days I have sat down to my computer at 8am sharp. Because I didn’t have anything nagging at me (I still have to exercise, etc.), I worked straight through for 6 or 8 hours and still had many hours ahead of me before bed.
It’s really surprising to me the sense of accomplishment and time management this little discipline is rewarding me with, and I just thought I would share. I think it was the decision to make the most of the time rather than to get up at 6am that has made the biggest difference…as it really isn’t that much earlier than my normal morning would begin. Amazing!
