Life is Like a Box of Chocolates…No it’s Like Gardening…
Author: ophelia | Category: Law of AttractionLife is like a box of chocolates - you never know what you are gonna get. I actually think life is like gardening - you know exactly what you are going to get.
I recently had my 30th birthday. I hate telling people that - they go man you are so young…Okkkk..But on that day that I turned 30 - April 27th by the way - I had an important revelation that keeps coming back to me: life is like gardening. If you knew me very well you would know I have a red thumb, or purple thumb - whatever is the polar opposite of green. Don’t ever give me a plant for fear it will not live to tell the tale.
My next door neighbor thought my house would look so much better with a garden, so went out and bought beautiful roses and planted them in my yard. I told her don’t expect for me to water them because that day will never come. So she asked for one simple thing - a hose attached to the nearest pipe close to the flowers and she would come over every day and water the roses.
But I’ve gone off track from my point here. Now if she planted those roses and no one ever watered or took care of them, what would happen? Weeds. If someone takes care of them - beautiful roses. This applies to everything in your life:
- If you don’t take care of your credit, eventually one day you wake up with bad credit - otherwise known as weeds. If you check it once a year - clear up any mistakes, pay bills on time, pay off bad credit - one day you will wake up and your credit will be a breath of fresh air - flowers.
- If you don’t save, one day you will wake up and have an emergency and have no money - weeds. If you save every month one day you will wake up and realize wow - I’ve got way more money than I thought - flowers.
- If you don’t exercise and sit and watch tv everyday, one day you wake up and you are now 30 pounds thicker with love handles - weeds. If you exercise daily, eat right, one day you wake up with the body of your dreams - flowers.
- If you have a relationship and you don’t take care of it, one day you wake up with weeds or a relationship that is on the rocks and no way to help it - weeds. If you take care of your relationship, one day you wake up and you realize wow - I’ve really got a beautiful thing gowing here - flowers.
- If you don’t wash or comb your hair for many months one day you wake up and you’ve got dreads - weeds. If you take care of it and wash and treat it right, one day you wake up and you’ve got beautiful hair - better than you’ve ever imagined - flowers.
I could go on and on with this analogy about weeds and flowers but I think you pretty much get it. It’s like passing a house that hasn’t had the grass cut in months - with weeds, and tall grass - and seeing the next door neighbor having the most beautiful grass you’ve ever seen. Everyone seems to think there is some magic formula to success but the truth of the matter is there really isn’t one. It is all the same formula for everything.
The Universe tends to always give you a reflection of how things are. If you don’t like it, simply change it. It’s not rocket science! It simply starts with watering a portion of your life, planting good seeds, giving it time to grow, and looking at the outcome. People seem to think that if they aren’t taking any action they aren’t really doing anything, but still the Universe rewards no action too - by giving you weeds. Everything is rewarded - action and non-action. Everything shows you a result - weeds or flowers. Success and wealth aren’t rocket science. Living an amazing life isn’t rocket science - it is simply planting the right seeds and watching the results.
If you have a lot of weeds in your life, consider the fact that ripping them out might be hard, but isn’t it always more beautiful to wake up to a great looking garden than a bare wasteland? Life isn’t a box of chocolates and you will know what you get!

Hi, Theresa;
Just noticing and acknowledging ways in which we have been neglecting or short-selling ourselves is a crucial step.
Don’t be hard on yourself!
