Why is it that all bad guys seem to do the exact same thing? You name the bad guy - he does the same thing whether it’s Lex Luther, Hobgoblin, Dr. Evil…What is it they all do you may ask me - well they all talk too much. HUH, what? Yes. Imagine this scene: the bad guy has caught the good guy off guard, maybe he’s knocked the good guy down or unconscious, maybe used some kryptonite. He is winning and what does he do? He talks. He uses this amazing opportunity to give some long speech about how he will take over the world, how much money he will make after his reign of terror or to ask why the good guy/superhero fights the good fight  (INSERT EVIL LAUGHTER HERE!) and during his long speech the good guy regains his strength and beats the crap out of him…

Now I want you to take note of the other behavior. The good guy’s speech is never more than a line long. He doesnt go on and on about life and all the things he will do. He just DOES IT. He just beats the guy! Good guys always seem to be short on words; bad guys seem to always be full of them.

Countless times I watch these stories and I think WILL THE EVIL GUY JUST SHUT UP ALREADY and kill the good guy?! I mean geez how many times do we really need to know your plan for the conquest of earth? Don’t we all know that you plan to take over the world? Don’t we all know that you plan to steal all the money - isn’t that your job? Do we really need a speech about it? Do we really need to know your life story, do we really need to know the horrible hand dealt to you? But NOOOOOOO - every single time I have to live through this speech.

But what is this teaching us about people? It teaches us that there are two kinds of people…take away the judgement of good guy/bad guy and it leaves two different kinds - one who talks a lot about his plans and one who actually says little and takes a lot of actions…

A lot of us may be playing the part of good guy but acting the part of bad guy - always giving speeches about all the things we will do - all the things we are going to do - long drawn out speeches but never any action. 

So here is the question: when are you going to start playing Superman, Spiderman, Batman, Fantastic Four in your life? When will you start playing the part of the real superhero with very short words and tons of actions?

After all, the bad guy never wins now does he?…He’s always too busy talking!
