Wealth: The Real Reason People Aren’t Rich

You know the 21 Day Mindset Series has changed my life and guess what - I wrote it! Now anyone that followed along realized there was no planned flow of the series. Whatever came up for me that particular day was what I wrote about in reference to money. Now I know a lot of people didn’t follow along because they got bored or tired of hearing the money talk or just plain had to make phone calls, take out the trash, clean the fridge or move furniture so they just didn’t have the time…and don’t forget wash the dog!

But I realized shortly after the end of the series that my mindset had changed and one thing became very clear to me…that there was a ton of money to be made by anyone who chose to get up and go make it. Now before that was never clear to me and it seemed that like myself my fraternal twin Shauna had the revelation at the same time. During the series we kept asking the Universe for additional streams of income which showed up for us and we were ecstatic to say the least. The possibilites seemed endless - we could start counting the extra dollars before they reached the bank - after money is just a belief right? So us believing this money would end up in our accounts meant the Universe had to deliver.

As our mindset and ideas grew, our brains began to wrap around bigger figures a month, more than most people make in a year and then we had a strange thought - Why was no one doing it?…Before this series my answer would be that no one knew about it…but now my answer was that people knew - there was evidence - I even told some myself but still no one was taking any action towards it. And that’s when I realized that money is like anything else - like weight, like health, like love, like any other aspect of your life. Everyone knows the way to lose weight is through DIET AND EXERCISE. Yet ask someone why arent they losing weight - Oh I just don’t know how to lose weight, I just can’t seem to get those pounds off…Yet read any health magazine and it’s right there in BOLD PRINT - the ways and steps to lose weight…So the problem is not that people don’t know how…the problem is that they are just too comfortable where they are right now to actually do the how….

Ever hear someone say OH I JUST DON’T KNOW HOW TO COOK. How many cookbooks are out there giving people step-by-step directions to make any meal? Just type it in your search engine…Voila!…You do it enough times you now know how to cook…For years I would say I can’t swim, I can dive and I can float but I can’t swim. For years I would repeat those words whenever the subject came up like it was some script I had learned and memorized. Then one day I said you know the wealthy Ophelia swims every day. You know at some point you have to eventually become her. She doesn’t just know how to swim - at some point you have to learn so that you can become her. Until that point I never ventured to take swimming lessons. I was OKAY with the script I was feeding myself…To tell the truth I had my daughter in swim lessons but kept putting it off for myself…Till one day I said I need to learn to swim so I can swim every day…and I did - I learned how to swim.

Now a lot of people are so used to the script they’ve been feeding themselves about money that they just spit it out like a well-oiled program. I’m broke, I don’t know how to make money, I’ve never made more than x amount in my life…I want money but don’t know how…’ Yet how many books are out there giving you step-by-step instructions on HOW…How many classes are giving you step-by-step instructions on HOW…

I was reading a forum where this guy was giving instructions on how he makes $1200 a day. Some people mocked him said he was a fraud, some said good for you, but only 2 said I’ll try it…Now this guy may be telling the truth or a lie but how many people will EVER find out? How many people will try it?…He was talking about hard work for 6 months - most couldn’t keep up with a 21 day series much less 6 months of work. Some will start and never finish, others may finish and find it a success, but tomorrow those same people will be back asking the question HOW DO I MAKE MONEY? They will get answers and they will ask the next day and the next…..

See the problem isn’t money - the problem is excuses. If you lose the weight you won’t have anymore excuses why you can’t. You can’t say I can’t lose weight because I don’t know how…If you made money you have no more excuses of I dont know how. People need excuses - something to blame outside of themselves for their lack of trying and their lack of succeeding and anything will do - and the best one of them all is I DON’T KNOW HOW. Then no one can blame you; after all YOU DON’T KNOW HOW…and we can’t have a silly thing like being rich mess all that up now can we?!!

    I beg of you to please reconsider perpetuating beliefs of duality and separation; whereby you teach people to percieve the world in a ‘positive,’ ‘good’ or ‘attractive’ way. Religious organizations made this mistake for centuries and milennia; whereby instead of saying ‘positive’ or ‘good’ they termed it ‘right’ or ‘Godly,’ and instead of ‘attractive’ they termed it ‘the way,’ ‘righteousness’ or ‘not being sinful.’ We do not need to proliferate these beliefs of duality, as they commence arguements, fights, and wars where someone is good and the other is bad; someone is a siner or Satanist and the other is Godly; or, in this case, someone is thinking or being positive (as per wealth) where the other is being negative (as per poverty).
    The key is non-separation, non-duality, oneness, wholeness or integration. Being one and at peace with yourself and thereby realizing you are one with your wants, for this frees you from the belief of needs or having to want; and you merely believe it and be it by living it (whatever it is).
    The books about ‘The Secret’ and ‘The Law of Attraction’ are confounding the world, and people are missing the point that they are the source of it all, they create and recieve everything and everyone they percieve; that the world is not out-there or in-here, but as we believe it to be. In reality, belief itself is the only thing real and everything else is a creation and reception of all of us, individually and as a collective. Again, please clarify and elucidate the beliefs of duality before they become another means to the end; a horrific end that none of us are really asking for.

    Hi, Craig;

    Thank you so much for your impassioned comment. I deeply agree with you in that we ALL are EVERYTHING, and I hope that you are off-base when you say that too many people are missing this point entirely when they begin following or learning these principles…although that may be true.

    For me, it is appropriate to believe at one and the same time that the physical world is a world of duality (all on an single scale, so to speak…hot and cold are opposites while at the same time being relevant only to each other, and existing only in respect of each other and to provide a basis for us to compare and choose) and that in ultimate reality we are all truly one energy. This is not a contradiction at all, although it may seem so.

    I respect and appreciate that you feel that in using terms such as ‘bad’ or ‘negative’ we are advocating a perspective of separation, however that is not the case, and actually we try and be clear by using such phrases as ‘perceived’ becasue you are right - it’s all just beliefs. We are ALL at cause and ultimately are all one. However, the simple fact of this life is that we have physical choices to make, and by aligning oursleves with that which we feel is ‘good’ or ‘better’, we feel we are bringing ourselves closer to our ‘true’ natures, and thus closer to the ultimate, singular reality of which you speak.

    Overall, compassion and love for others has to be a part of a well-lived life; not because it’s the ‘right thing to do’, but because we realize we ARE one, and that each of us affects the complex whole.

    Thanks again, Craig. Re-reading your post makes me wonder why, if you have such clarity on the fact that we are all source and each create from our beliefs, you are so deeply afraid of the consequences of our behaviour. We are all everlasting…

    Hi Shauna,
    I just wanted to say thanks for this great post. As usual, the Law of Attraction is working. Just last night I was writing in my journal and had asked the universe to help me understand why I wasn’t changing my eating habits to become healthier. Then, this morning I have read your post, and there it was! I am too comfortable with how I am now to do anything about it! Thank you for giving me new perspective and renewed motivation to make some changes.

    Hey, Abbie;

    Belated thanks, and actually this post was Ophelia’s - and she says thanks! - but we both definitely feel the same way…in fact, we’re working on some sites just for motivational stuff, because this is such an issue for SO many people!
    :)
